The Agilent Bioanalyzer 2100 offers quick and convenient sizing and quantification analysis for DNA or RNA. 

Sample Input

Agilent High Sensitivity DNA Kit- 11 samples/chip, 1µL of each sample prepared in deionized water.

Agilent DNA 7500 Kit- 12 samples/chip, 1µL of each sample prepared in deionized water.

Agilent RNA 6000 Pico Kit- 11 samples/chip, 1uL of each sample prepared in deionized water. 

Agilent RNA 6000 Nano Kit- 12 samples/chip, 1µL of each sample prepared in deionized water.

Expected Results

High Sensitivity DNA Chip - DNA Concentration 5-500pg/µL, DNA Sizing 50-7000 bp

DNA 7500 Chip - DNA Concentration 0.5-50ng/µL, DNA sizing 100-7500bp

RNA 6000 Pico Chip - RNA Concentration Qualitative metrics-RNA Integrity Number-(RIN)

Quantative range = 50-5000pg/µL (Total RNA Assay), 250-5000pg/µL (mRNA Assay)

Sample Preparation Details

UAGC offers analysis with the following chips-

DNA 7500 Chip- For the separation, sizing and quantification of dsDNA fragments from 100 to 7500 bp

High Sensitivity DNA Chip- For the separation, sizing and quantification of low concentrated dsDNA samples from 50 - 7000 bp

RNA 6000 Pico Chip-  Each chip can accommodate 11 samples and uses 1µL of each sample. Prepare your samples in RNase free water. RNA must be submitted in 0.2mL tubes at no greater than 5uL volume.

Total RNA in each sample must be between 200-500pg/µL and mRNA concentration must be between 500-5000pg/µL. If your sample is more concentrated please dilute with RNase free water. 

*Users are welcome to supply their own chips and reagents for use on this instrument. 


How to Get Started with your Sample Submission: 

  • Login to Sample Lifecycle Manager (SLM) and select 'Agilent Bioanalyzer' as your workflow.
  • Upload your sample information. 
  • Click set tests. Enter in the chip name- i.e. DNAHighSensitivity
  • Click Submit Tests.
  • Record and attach the 4 letter code at the end of your SLM submission to your samples and send or deliver to UAGC.

To submit your samples for us to run please log into Sample Lifecycle Manager  and select Agilent Bioanalyzer as your workflow- click Set Test button and enter the Chip you want to use. You should recieve results with-in 2 business days of sample reciept by UAGC staff member.

Turnaround Time

This workflow takes approximately 1 hour per chip. Turn around time on Bioanalyzer submissions is within 2 days of samples being physically recieved by UAGC.

Additional Information

The Agilent 2100 Bioanalyzer uses chips that are designed to for DNA and RNA analysis. The chips are composed of microchannels that seperate the nucleic acid fragments by size as they are electrophoretically moved through the gel matrix.
